1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Hone, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Description of Service
Hone is a local-first productivity app that provides:
- An AI-powered journal coach
- Goal setting and process-goal tracking
- Task management and habit consistency tracking
- Mood and performance visualization
All data is stored locally on your device. No account or login is required.
3. AI Features and Third-Party Services
Hone uses Google Gemini (operated by Google LLC) to power AI features including the journal coach, plan generator, and transcription. By agreeing to use these features, you acknowledge that certain data — including your journal messages, goals, photos you attach, and setup answers — will be transmitted to Google's servers to generate responses.
You are not required to use AI features. You may decline consent during onboarding, in which case AI-powered functionality will not be available.
Hone also uses RevenueCat to manage in-app subscriptions and Cloudflare R2 to store images you attach to journal entries. Use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.
4. Subscriptions and Purchases
Hone offers a free tier and a Pro subscription. Subscriptions are billed through the Apple App Store and are subject to Apple's payment terms. Subscription management, cancellation, and refunds are handled through your Apple ID account settings.
- Free tier: up to 100 AI messages
- Pro tier: unlimited messages and premium features
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Hone to:
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Submit content that is harmful, abusive, or illegal
- Attempt to reverse-engineer or tamper with the app
- Use the service for any commercial purpose without permission
6. Privacy and Data
Our data practices are described in full in the Privacy Policy. Your data is stored locally on your device. Data sent to third-party AI services is used only to generate responses and is subject to the consent you provide in the app.
7. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of all content you create in Hone. We retain all rights to the app, its design, and functionality. You grant us no rights to your content beyond what is necessary to operate the service.
8. Disclaimers
Hone is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. AI-generated responses are not professional advice — medical, psychological, financial, or otherwise. Do not rely on them as a substitute for professional guidance.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hone shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or its AI features.
10. Termination
You may stop using Hone at any time by deleting the app. All locally stored data will be removed with the app. We may suspend access for violations of these terms.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance.
